Counting Crows, with their intimate and melancholy approach, achieved a large fan base among Generation X alternative rock fans who were looking for something different from the raging guitars of the Seattle music scene. It's their ability to balance lead singer, Adam Duritz's, tortured lyrics with the sound of the late '60s and early '70s; it made them one of the few alternative bands to appeal to listeners who thought that rock & roll died in the '70s. Counting Crows, and Adam Duritz in particular, have become renowned for the energetic, passionate nature of their live performances. To date the band has sold over 20 million CDs worldwide. Augustana is an American rock band from San Diego, California who are best known for their singles, "Boston" and "Sweet and Low."
