FOXWOODS RESORT CASINO AND MGM GRAND AT FOXWOODS REPORT JUNE SLOT RESULTSFoxwoods Resort Casino and MGM Grand at Foxwoods today reported to the Connecticut State Division of Special Revenue that slot revenue for the month of June was $51.0 million. This amount represents a decrease of 11.7 percent in slot win and a decrease of 7.4 percent in total slot handle as compared to June of 2009. The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation (MPTN), the casino’s owner, also reported a $13.6 million payment to the State of Connecticut for June 2010. This contribution increases the total dollar amount given to the State of Connecticut to more than $3 billion since January 1993, when slot machines were first introduced at Foxwoods.Foxwoods and MGM Grand at Foxwoods, North America’s largest resort casino, have an action packed calendar of special events and developments over the next few months that are sure to appeal to the property’s legion of customers. Cirque Dreams Jungle Fantasy comes to the MGM Grand Theater direct from Broadway on July 27. This groundbreaking stage spectacle stars the Original Pop Princess, Debbie Gibson, in the title role of Mother Nature. Never before has a pop star or celebrity been featured as the lead vocalist in a Cirque show. Created and directed by Neil Goldberg, Cirque Dreams Jungle Fantasy is an exotic encounter inspired by nature’s unpredictable creations that are brought to life by an international cast of soaring aerialists, spine-bending contortionists, acrobats, jugglers and musicians. This show will exhilarate and entertain audiences of all ages through September 1.
On August 6, legendary group The Beach Boys hit the MGM Grand stage in celebration of more than 45 years of making music. Fans of the Counting Crows will belt out “Mr. Jones” when the group performs at the MGM Grand Theater on August 13 featuring special guest Augustana. On August 28, Stevie Nicks, the legendary American singer-songwriter best known for her work with Fleetwood Mac, will serenade the crowd at Foxwoods. And nine-time Grammy Award winner Sheryl Crow is set to light up the stage at MGM Grand at Foxwoods on September 25 with special guest Brandi Carlile.
Comedy reigns supreme at Foxwoods Resort Casino and MGM Grand at Foxwoods this fall with appearances by Howie Mandel and Margaret Cho. Mandel, who hosts the national television phenomenon “Deal or No Deal” and is the newest addition to the smash hit “America’s Got Talent,” invades the MGM Grand theater on October 1. Cho, who currently stars in the comedic drama series “Drop Dead Diva,” brings her “Cho Dependant” tour to Foxwoods’ Fox Theater on November 6. Jerry Seinfeld, who has an exclusive deal with MGM Grand at Foxwoods through 2010, makes his highly anticipated return to the property this winter on December 3 & 4.
Foodies will also get their fix this fall, as Foxwoods gears up for the Fourth Annual Foxwoods Food & Wine Festival, scheduled to take place from Friday, November 5 to Sunday, November 7. The weekend will feature an array of events and activities, including a Gala Dinner hosted by a soon to be announced celebrity chef; the event’s signature Grand Tasting; a Celebrity Bowling Event, hosted by the new upscale bowling lounge High Rollers; Chef Demonstrations and Book Signings; an array of Beverage Seminars, spanning the topics of wine, spirits and beer; Chef & Winemaker Dinners; and a Dessert After-Party.
